THE REDDAM FOUNDATION

OUR VISION

In line with Reddam’s motto of “Giving Back”, outreach is an essential part of our school. Projects include support of our local pre-primary schools in Chris Nissen Park with easter eggs, blankets, jerseys and shoes from Barefoot Day; participating in the “Blisters for Bread” charity walk which benefits FAMSA, a feeding scheme that provides meals for school-going children; making sandwiches each week for the homeless in the area; delivering gifts to the neighbouring homes for the elderly; and random acts of kindness throughout the year.

Reddam Foundation gives disadvantaged students the opportunity to attend Reddam House. We invite you to explore this page for photos, news and upcoming events to highlight and showcase our passion for #GIVINGBACK

Valentines

Last week Valentine’s Day was celebrated throughout the school with the making of cards and biscuits in the Junior School and a most enjoyable concert and picnic in the Senior School. The Junior Executive Council also asked the students to bring fresh flowers to school, which they delivered to the elderly at a local retirement home.

Some of the Reddam House Somerset students and their parents, together with the staff took part in the recent Blisters for Bread fun walk in Green Point, one of Cape Town’s most well supported charity events. Blisters for Bread supports the non-profit organisation, Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA). Each day three out of four children in the Western Cape go to school hungry, PSFA endeavours to feed these hungry children at both primary and secondary school levels, they believes that “you can’t teach a hungry child”, and today the organisation feeds up to 28 000 children in 155 schools every day – for most, it is the only meal they get.

Mandela Day

On Monday 18 July we celebrated Mandela Day with a special assembly which paid tribute to Mandela’s inspirational words and attributes. Our students gave back to our community by making sandwiches for the children at a nursery school in the Chris Nissen Park community, and are participating in a community-driven project to clean-up our local beaches.
